KITCHEN KNIFE SHARPENING
Always sharpened on a slow turning water wheel to protect the temper of the edge.
KITCHEN KNIVES
Option 1: Bronze service £4.00 a knife
(This is my basic method of sharpening and will be done unless you ask for my Premium services).
Gives a good cutting edge and repairs most standards budget Kitchen knives.
Renew bevel to 20" on a 220 TO 600 grit slow turning water stone then polished the edge to 3000 grit on a buffing wheel. £4.00 per knife upto 12 inch blade over 12 inch please ask for a quote.
Option 2: Silver Service £6.00 a knife
Gives a great cutting edge for professional users on Med to highend knives. (this is how I sharpen my butchering knives).
Renew bevel to 220 grit, set new bevel to 1000 grit using a slow turning water wheel at 15 to 20". Deburr on buffing wheels and hone on leather strop. £6.00 per knife upto 12 inch blade over 12 inch of blade please ask for a quote.
Option 3 Gold Service £8.00 a knife (workshop Only)
Great for highend knives. Most Japeness knives and those of you pushing for a sharper edge.
Renew bevel to 220 grit, set new bevel to 1000 grit. Hone to 4000 grit on a slow turning Japeness water stone at 15". Deroot on felt wheel then hone the apex on a leather wheel with chromium oxcide and polish on a strope. Takes around 30 mins a knife. £8.00 per knife upto 12 inch blade over 12 inch of blade. Please ask for a quote.
Option 4 Diamond Service £10.00 a knife (workshop Only)
Every so often I see a knife thats made of really hard alloy and will not sharpen on conventional water stones as the stones are to soft. In this case I have to employ diamond wheels to set a new bevel and hone with diamond paste to refine the cutting edge. This method can also work well on other more expensive higher end knives. the choice is yours.

UP TO 2" chisels Sharpened to 25" Then polished to a super sharp finish.
Please note this service is not intended for cabinet makers chisels. but I can put on a great edge for general woodworking.There may be slight inaccuracies if an engineer's square is used to check the edge, but this will not matter when used for general carpentry, and any discrepancy will be slight.
TERMS
At Proper Sharp we love happy customers. This service is intended to keep your mainstream Kitchen knives, Garden tools and general scissors working. It is not intended for high end items such as pro Hairdressing scissors and Grooming shears, Brush craft or highend hard Kitchen knives, carving or bushcraft axes, tomahawks samurai or any type of swords. Above is a list of items I do sharpen. All sharpening is carried out in good faith and although we do our very best to bring your items back to life we can not know what stress or stain the items have endured in the past. Sometimes knife blades can have hairline fractures. Garden tools can be over stressed and bent, also scissors may have been dropped leaving unseen damage. All this can lead to your item breaking when being sharpened. In the unlikely event of this happening to your items you will be informed of the situation and you will not be charged for any work done. We do not replace items that break but are happy to try and fix the best we can with your say so.
